He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 So you are after him! 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
