Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a high garden 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
