The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 unto a mighty day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
