The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
