He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
