The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
