۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
