The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
