Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
