And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
