The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
