Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 Or a needy person in misery 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
