The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And affirms goodness, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
