At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
