The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And no trifle. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
