The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
