The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
