A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
