And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
