'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
