The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They replied, "Surely you are bewitched. 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
