Hizb 46
< random >
Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time. 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 And peace be upon all His message-bearers! 181 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
