Al-Taareq

The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
