Hast thou not regarded those who dispute concerning the signs of God, how they are turned about? 69 Those who deny the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers - they are going to know, 70 When iron collars will be rounded over their necks, and the chains, they shall be dragged along. 71 In the boiling water, then they will be burned in the Fire. 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 side by side with God?" They will answer: "They have forsaken us - or, rather, what we were wont to invoke aforetime did not exist at all!" And they will be told:] "It is thus that God lets the deniers of the truth go astray: 74 They will be told, "This (torment) is the result of your unreasonable happiness on the earth and of your propagation of falsehood. 75 “Enter the gates of hell, to remain in it forever”; so what a wretched destination for the haughty! 76 Wherefore persevere thou; verily the promise of Allah is true; then whether We let thee see a part of that wherewith We have promised them, or whether We cause thee to die, unto Us they all will be caused to return. 77 And indeed, [O Muhammad,] We sent forth apostles before thy time; some of them We have mentioned to thee, and some of them We have not mentioned to thee. And it was not given to any apostle to bring forth a miracle other than by God's leave. Yet when God's will becomes manifest, judgment will [already] have been passed in all justice, and lost will be, then and there, all who tried to reduce to nothing [whatever they could not understand]. 78
