Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter by dispersing, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
