The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
