(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
