The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
