Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 144 I do not ask any recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 145 "Do you think that you will remain here peacefully forever 146 In gardens and springs. 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 Replied he: "This she-camel shall have a share of water, and you shall have a share of water, on the days appointed [therefor]; 155 And do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a grievous day should overtake you. 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 For they were seized by the torment. Verily there was a sign in this, but most of them did not believe. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
