The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And exalted thrones. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
