The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
