The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
