By no means! By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 From the guilty. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
