Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
