He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
