The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
