The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
