The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
