The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
