The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
