The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
