The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then he mustered 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
