He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
