And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 "And He will give me death, then resurrect me." 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 "So now we do not have any intercessors." The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none. 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
