Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
