Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And those who disbelieve in Our signs, they are the Companions of the Left Hand; 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
