Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread around. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
