The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
