The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
