The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
